TV powerhouse purchases U.K. indie co.
PARIS — Stephane Courbit’s ever-growing TV powerhouse Banijay Entertainment has bought U.K. indie production company Zig Zag Prods.
The purchase of one of Blighty’s prominent nonfiction specialists comes just months after Banijay acquired Nordisk Film TV in October and in July announced the purchase of Germany’s Brainpool and the creation of a U.S. joint venture with Angel City Factory.
Based out of Paris, Banijay’s portfolio of companies includes production houses in France, Spain and Russia.
The Banijay-Zig Zag pact also includes Zig Zag subsid Hoohah, a digital creative agency focusing on short form and branded entertainment content.
Zig Zag was set up in 1999 by managing director Danny Fenton and CEO Kevin Utton, who, if the Zig Zag acquisition plays out like other Banijay buys, will stay with the company.
